Janke, Claudine J. (Lehman) (March 17, 1932 - August 1, 2010)

Claudine J. Janke, 78, Athens, peacefully passed away to her home in Heaven on Sunday, August 1, 2010.

She was under the loving care of family and friends with the support of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

An only child, Claudine was born March 17, 1932 to Albert and Martha (Maier) Lehman at their home in the Town of Bern. Claudine enjoyed attending Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from Athens High School in 1950.

Claudine married James H. Janke on May 5, 1951. Together they ran a construction business for 40 years, completing projects throughout Wisconsin, Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Minnesota, on the Great Lakes and in Alaska.

Claudine was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Athens, Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Chugiak, Alaska, the Red Hat Society and Hospice's Wausau Metro Volunteer Team, serving for eight years.

Some of Claudine's hobbies included traveling, photography, gardening and music. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. Her caring ways, sense of humor and delicious meals will be missed by all who knew her. We are thankful for the lessons of life and love she taught us and we are comforted in believing she is now with our Lord Jesus Christ.

Surviving family includes Claudine's son-in-law, David (Janet) Guden; brother-in-law, Russell (Charlene) Janke of Athens; and sisters-in-law, Carol (Jerome, deceased) Janke, Florida, and Luella (Andrew) Schreiner, Marilyn (Delmar) Becker, Therese (Ray) Thuot and Joan (Joseph) Braun, all of Marathon County.; two grandsons, Daniel (Julie) Guden and Christopher Guden, of Athens; granddaughter, Sadie (Patrick) Quirk, and two great-granddaughters, Mackenzie and Mya Quirk, all of Machesney Park, Ill.

Claudine was preceded in death by her husband in 1990, and their only child, Bonnie Guden, in 1995. Also, her brother-in-law, Jerome Janke.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, August 7 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Athens, Wis. Memorial service to follow at 11:30 a.m. Pastor Andy Alberts will officiate. John J. Buettgen Funeral Home with the Mid Wisconsin Cremation Society, Schofield, is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Claudine's name may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church's building fund. You may send online condolences at www.jjbfh.com.

Claudine's grandchildren would like to extend a very sincere thank you to Pastor Andy Alberts, David and Janet Guden, and all who have lovingly helped us care for our dear Grandma.
