Dittrich, Joan Arlene (Accola) (July 17, 1936 - July 11, 2010)

Joan Arlene Dittrich, 73, Medford, died Sunday, July 11 at Memorial Health Center in Medford.

A memorial service will be held Monday, Aug. 2 at 4 p.m. at Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Home in Medford, with Ron Dittrich officiating. Inurnment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Medford.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.


The former Joan Accola was born July 17, 1936 in Medford to the late Herman and Frances (Stendel) Accola. She attended Medford Elementary School, was a 1954 graduate of Medford High School and was a 1956 graduate of Taylor County Normal School. She taught fourth grade at Hawkins Grade School for one year.


On September 21, 1957 in Decorah, Iowa, she married Jack Lee Dittrich, who preceded her in death in 2002. She co-owned and operated the Dittrich Mink Ranch with her husband for 42 years, retiring in 1999.


She enjoyed reading, bird watching, playing cribbage, spending time with her family and her dogs, Pookie and Paige.


Survivors include three children, Laura (Gary) Ebensperger of Balsam Lake, Karen (Rik) Obinger of Eden Prairie, Minn., and Ron of Medford; a sister, Janice (Tom) Weyneth of Wausau; five grandchildren, Elizabeth, Katherine, Anna and Daniel Ebensperger, and Ben Obinger; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.


In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jim.
