Grindeland, Elizabeth Deehan (Miller) (August 31, 1942 - April 22, 2010)

Elizabeth Deehan Grindeland, 66, Rib Lake, died Thursday, April 22 at Memorial Health Center in Medford.

A memorial service was held Monday, April 26 at Camp New Wood County Park in Tomahawk, with Pastor Dave Elleman officiating. A second memorial service will be held Saturday, May 1 at 3 p.m. at Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Home in Rib Lake, with Pastor Dave Elleman officiating.


Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.


The former Elizabeth Miller was born August 31, 1942 in Philadelphia, Penn., to the late Clarence and Margette (Davies) Miller.

She attended school in Philadelphia until the age of 16.


She married Max Stout in Philadelphia and moved to Buena Vista, CO, for 10 years before divorcing.

In December 1970, she married Harley Grindeland, and they later divorced.

She moved to Crosby, ND, where she lived for six years, then to Cody, WY., then to Tomahawk before moving to Rib Lake where she resided the past five years. She had been employed as a bartender at Sherwood Forest and River's Edge Tavern in Tomahawk. She also worked as a CNA at Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Red Rooster Restaurant, and Cody Motor Lodge, all in Cody.


She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary in North Dakota and Wyoming. She enjoyed meeting and visiting with people, crocheting, hunting, sewing, having a good time, playing darts, hatchet throwing, fishing, camping, being outdoors, oil painting and charcoal drawing.


Survivors include five children, Brenda Myers of Medford, Dana James Grindeland of Montana, Daniel Grindeland of Tomahawk, Daryl (Angela) Grindeland of Williston, ND, and Shirley (Nicole) Grindeland of Rib Lake; a sister, Faith Jones of Wilsonville, OR; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James Stout; a granddaughter, Jessica Sue Mott; a sister, Shirley Miller; a brother, Jack; and a nephew, David Jones.
