Lewandowski, Gail M. (4 Oct. 1936 - 19 Aug. 1999)

MEDFORD -- Gail M. Lewandowski, 62, N2834 Daisy Lane, Medford, died at 2:50 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, 1999, at St. Joseph's Palliative Care, Marshfield, where she was admitted only a few hours earlier. She was born Oct. 4, 1936, at Ashland, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bartol, Ashland.

She was a 1954 graduate of DePadua High School, Ashland, and of Northland College, Ashland, with a bachelor's degree in math, biology and German. She took additional post-graduate courses at UW-SP. She was married to Walter B. Lewandowski on Aug. 1, 1964, in Ashland.

She taught in the Elroy School District for six years. She was a mathematics teacher with the Medford School District from 1964-66 and again from 1986-present. She enjoyed doing genealogy. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and a former CCD teacher and board of education member, a member of the Medford Education Association, the Wisconsin Education Association, the Wisconsin Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the national Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the Taylor County Genealogical Association. She is survived by her husband, Walter, Medford; two sons, Michael (Dawn) Lewandowski, Cottage Grove, Minn.; and Peter (Jill) Lewandowski, Antigo; two sisters, Connie (Dan) Rabideaux, Duluth, Minn.; and Karen (Richard) Woodford, Marshfield; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Bartol, Ashland; two sons, Michael and Peter Lewandowski; and friends, Todd Peissig and Neil Witte.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford, with Fr. Dennis Meulemans officiating.

Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. today at the Hemer Funeral Home, Medford, with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service.

Interment of cremains will be at St. Agnes Catholic Cemetery, Ashland, at a later date.
