Vlcek, Ida Mae (Soderstrom) (April 5, 1926 - March 17, 2011)


Ida Mae Vlcek, 84, Medford, died on Thursday, March 17 at Memorial Nursing and Rehab Center in Medford. Funeral services will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Ogema.


The former Ida Mae Soderstrom was born on April 5, 1926 in Ogema to the late Carl and Mathilda (Carlson) Soderstrom. She attended Ogema Grade School and was a 1944 graduate of Prentice High School.


On June 12, 1950 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Milwaukee, she married Laddie Vlcek, who survives. They lived in Phillips for eight years, before moving to Ogema, where they lived for 34 years, before moving to Medford where they have lived the past 19 years.


She was a member of Ogema Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher, Ogema Lady Lions and the BCW. She enjoyed traveling, fishing and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.


In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, Brien (Kate Carollo) of Seattle, Wash., and Bruce J. (Vickey Benea) of Boston, Mass.; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Vlcek, Laura (Courtney) Taylor, Allison Vlcek and Kevin Vlcek, all of Seattle; two sisters-in-law, Loretta Soderstrom and Mildred Soderstrom, both of Shawano; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.
