Duerr, Charles August (14 June 1892 - 12 Nov. 1976)
Charles August Duerr, Route 1, Athens, died at 7:15 p.m. Fri. at his home. He was 84.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tues. at Zion United Methodist Church in Marshfield with the Rev. Henry Bahrenburg Jr., pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Brooklawn Memory Gardens.
Friends may call at the Hansen Chapel from 4-9 p.m. Mon. and at the church after 10 a.m. Tues..
Mr. Duerr was born June 14, 1892, in Lomira and received his education in the Athens area schools. He married the former Edna Strege on Sept. 23, 1920, at Ledgewood, N.D. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1970.
Mr. Duerr logged and farmed in the Athens area until 1949, when he came to Marshfield and worked for the former Roddis Corp., now Weyerhaeuser Co., until retiring in 1959. After his wife’s death on June 13, 1972, he returned to the Athens area.
He was a veteran of World War I, serving with the U.S. Army in France. He was the recipient of a Purple Heart.
He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church and the Mueller-Hintz VFW Post No. 1866.
Surviving are six sons, Willard C. Duerr Sr., Route 4, Marshfield; Marvin F., Roy A., Edwin W. and George C., all of Marshfield, and Clarence A., Route 1, Athens; a brother, Arnold Duerr, Marshfield; 24 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
