Walter R. Zamow, 78, of Marshfield died Tues., May 26, 2009, at Saint Joseph's Hospital Palliative Care.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. June 5 at Rembs' Funeral Home (300 S. Oak Ave. - Marshfield, WI), where the family will receive relatives and friends from 9 a.m. until service time.

Walter R. Zamow, 78, Marshfield, died Tues., May 26, 2009, at Saint Joseph's Hospital Palliative Care.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Fri., June 5, 2009, at Rembs' Funeral Home (300 S. Oak Ave. - Marshfield, WI), Marshfield. The Rev. Mark Krueger will officiate, and military rites will be conducted at the funeral home by American Legion Post 54 following the service. The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on June 5 from 9 a.m. until service time.

Mr. Zamow was born on April 19, 1931, in Wauwatosa to Walter B. and Rose (Lenz) Zamow. He was a graduate of North Division High School, Milwaukee. He had served in the United States Army, stationed in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He and Marcella D. Serdynski were united in marriage on June 24, 1961, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Milwaukee.

Walter had been employed as a printing pressman in Milwaukee for a number of years. The Zamows later moved to Ladysmith, where they owned and operated Pla-Mor Lanes bowling alley. In 1988, they moved to Marshfield.

Walter enjoyed bowling, playing cards, fishing, watching sports, an occasional trip to the casino and traveling in the United States after retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Marcella of Marshfield; and their four children, Thomas (Debbie) Zamow of Ramona, Calif., Denise Zamow of Marshfield, Richard (Anne) Zamow of San Diego, Calif., and William Zamow of Ladysmith. He is also survived by two stepgrandchildren and three great-stepgrandchildren. He is further survived by a brother, Jack Zamow of Belgium; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; and a sister, Dorothy Wasemiller.
