Richard J. Wilhelm, 79, of Marshfield died Sun. April 19, 2009, at the Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City, La.

Rembs' Funeral Home (300 S. Oak Ave. - Marshfield, WI) is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Richard J. Wilhelm, 79 of Marshfield, died Sun. April 19, 2009, at the Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City, La.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thur. at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Rozellville with the Rev. Thomas Rudolph. St. Andrew's Folk Choir will provide the music for the services. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitations will be at 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wed. at Rembs' Funeral Home (300 S. Oak Ave. - Marshfield, WI) and again Thur. at the church from 10 a.m. until time of the services.

Richard was born Nov. 20, 1929, in Blenker to Alois and Agnes (Brock) Wilhelm Sr. He attended school in Rozellville. Prior to his marriage, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1955.

He was united in marriage for 53 years to Loretta L. Loonstra on Nov. 10, 1955, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church.

Richard was a dairy farmer in Arpin since 1956, taking over Parkridge Dairy Farm from his father-in-law. He retired in 1988, selling the farm to his son, Dennis.

He was a 4-H leader, active member of his church and also many co-ops.

Richard is survived by his wife Loretta, seven children, Richard (Dawn) Wilhelm of Wisconsin Rapids, Dennis (Bonnie) Wilhelm of Arpin, Randy (Teri) Wilhelm of Pittsville, Jim (Jan) Wilhelm of Auburndale, Jeff (Maria) Wilhelm of Birnamwood, Diane Wilhelm of Rudolph and Donna (Terry) Anslum of Berwick, La.; 19 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

He is further survived by his siblings, Sylvester, Eugene, Alois Jr. and Vincent (Rosemary) Wilhelm, all of Marshfield; Marie (Leon) Schneider of Hewitt, Joyce (David) Haag of DeForest and Shirley (James) Reel of Wausau.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Raymond and Norman Wilhelm.
