Weborg, Roy Farrell (27 June 1914 - 12 Aug. 1999)

PARK FALLS -- Roy Farrell Weborg, 85, Marshfield, formerly of Park Falls, died Thur. August 12, 1999, at St. Joseph's Hospice in Marshfield. He was born on June 27, 1914, in Fosston, Minn., the son of John and Petra (Bagstad) Weborg.

He graduated from McIntosh High School in McIntosh, Minn. and Minnesota State Teachers College. On September 1, 1941, he married Elsa Pearson in Port Wing. He operated businesses in Park Falls for many years and was also employed by the Federal Forestry in Park Falls. Roy was a proud veteran of WW II, serving as corporal in the 172nd Field Artillery Battalion. He was awarded five battle stars for combat. He received the good conduct medal and was honorably discharged from service on November 25, 1945. He was a member of the Park Falls American Legion Post.

Shall I give up a friend I have valued and tried

If he knell not before the same altar as I?"

He was a dedicated member of Christ the Servant Lutheran Church in Park Falls. For many years the Weborgs enjoyed being foster parents to 18 children.

He is survived by his wife Elsa, Marshfield, formerly of Park Falls; one son, Rand (Cindy) Weborg, Lake Tomahawk; three daughters: Annette (Steven) McCabe, Marshfield; Kristen (Ken) Kulzick, Waukesha; and Victoria (Charles) Smith, St. Paul, Minn.; 12 much loved grandchildren; two brothers: David Weborg of Florida; and Glen (Virginia) Weborg, Minneapolis; two sisters; Florence Rude, Fosston, Minn.; and Grayce Mathias, Arvada, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Mon. from Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, Park Falls. The Rev. Peter Ruggles will officiate.

Visitation will be held on Mon. from 2 p.m. until the hour of the service at the church.

Burial will take place at a later date at Port Wing Cemetery, Port Wing.

The Novitzke Funeral Home, Park Falls, is handling the arrangements.
