Uerling, Donald “Don” C. (3 JAN 1943 - 19 AUG 2019)

Donald “Don” C. Uerling, age 78, of Colby, passed away on August 15, 2019 at the Marshfield Medical Center.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Saint Mary Help of Christian Parish in Colby. Father Joseph Redfern will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. Military honors provided by the Colby VFW post #2227. Family and friends are welcome from 9:00 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church.

Don was born on May 27, 1941, the son of Clarence and Alveria (Mengel) Uerling in Colby. He graduated from Colby High School. Don joined the United States Army, and served in Korea. Don was united in marriage to Mary Ann Sterzinger on June 24, 1972 at St. Mary Catholic Church. He worked for PCA for 35 years.

Don loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and hiking with his brothers, nephews and lifelong friend Jimmy Baumgartner. Don also looked forward to his trips to Alaska to fish. Later in life he enjoyed reading, and trap shooting.

Don is survived by his wife of 47 years: Mary Ann of Colby; siblings: Peter (Theresa) of Arpin, James of Princeton, Mae (Leroy) Mattison of Phillips, Patricia (Willard) Meyers of Curtiss, Janet Lawniczak of Green Bay, Rose Uerling of Ludington, MI, Jenny (Brian) Shannon of Independence, IA, and Russell (Christine) of Olympia, WA; two sisters-in-law: Nancy Uerling of Gleason, and Karen Uerling of Bradenton, FL, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Don is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Raymond, Ervin, John, and Thomas; a sister: June; two sisters-in-law: Caroline and Judy; and a niece: Paula Uerling.
