Mr. Funk came to Withee in 1876 and Mrs. Funk came as his bride in 1883.
They lived on the Strohkirch farm south of the village and later they had a
general store and a meat market, He was Withee's first president and second
postmaster. He also served several years on the school board and as clerk of
Longwood and Hixon Townships.
Children were: George, Theresa, Edmund, and Ida (Mrs. L.H. Munson), Mrs.
Anna Davidson, Emma (Mrs. William Vogelin) and Herbert (died 1905).
In November of 1943 they celebrated 60 years of marriage.
