Sims, Marshall C. (2 August 1992 – 24 February 2009)

Marshall C. Sims, 16, of Black River Falls died unexpectedly Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, in Black River Memorial Hospital.

Marshall Curtis Sims was born August 2, 1992, in Black River Falls to Ahmad “A.J.” and Sheila (Shaffer) Sims. He had lived in the Black River Falls area most of his life.

He was currently a sophomore at Black River Falls Senior High School where he was a member of the football team. He also had been employed by his father.

Marshall enjoyed working on cars and was particularly fond of classic automobiles. He also enjoyed hunting, video games, playing pool, playing and writing music, listening to music and bowling.

Survivors include his parents, A. J. (Candy Conant) Sims of Black River Falls and Sheila Allen of Phenix City, AL; four sisters, Jasmine Sims, Kasondra “Kassie” Christiansen, Patience Sims and Hope Sims, all of Black River Falls; two stepsisters, Allana Holman and Aleasha Herth, both of Black River Falls; a stepbrother, Craig Herth, of Black River Falls; four nephews, Owen Sims, Jayden Christiansen, Keegan Holman, and Vincent Holman, all of Black River Falls; grandparents, patrician and Duane Haskins of Alma Center, and Sue Gotting of Winona, MN; step grandparents, Wayne and Sandy Lanier of Millston; uncles and aunts, Bradley and Susan Sanborn of Black River Falls, Kevin Conant of Millston, Sarah Green of Neillsville, Dylan and Tammy Green of Wisconsin Rapids, and Wade and Lucas Haskins of Alma Center; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by an aunt and an uncle, Anna and Norman Millard.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at the Andrew Blackhawk American Legion Post 129, and burial was in Shamrock Union Cemetery, both in rural Black River Falls. Rev. Terry Marg officiated.

Family and friends were invited for visitation from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Andrew Blackhawk American Legion Post 129.

The Buswell Funeral Home, Black River Falls, assisted the family with arrangements.
