Swisher, Ruth A. (24 April 1933 – 30 May 2009)

 

Ruth A. (Galster) Swisher, 76, of Janesville passed away unexpectedly Saturday, May 30, 2009, at University Hospital in Madison.

 

Ruth was born April 24, 1933, in Alma Center, the youngest and only surviving of four children of George and Emma (Winscher) Galster.  She moved to Janesville area in 1950 and was a resident there the rest of her life.  Ruth married Wallace L. Habeck in 1951.  He died October of 1974.  She married Don K. Swisher April 10, 1976.

 

Ruth was formerly employed by JC Penney, Van Galder Bus Service and Jacobson Bus Service.  She especially enjoyed the time she spent driving bus for special education children.  Ruth was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church and Women of the Moose Chapter #477, holding an Academy of Friendship Degree from them.  She enjoyed doing ceramics and other crafts.

 

Survivors include her husband, Don K. Swisher; children: Larry (Gala) Habeck of Riverview, FL, David (Juanita) Habeck of Janesville, Kandy (Jeffrey) Kirkpatrick of Janesville and Scott (Linda) Habeck of Stephenson, MI; a daughter-in-law, Bernadette Habeck of Argyle; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason) Green of Valrico, FL, Andrew (Kim) Habeck of Brandon, FL, Rhonda Habeck (Jason Rowin) of Monona, Michelle (Matthew) Boardman of Janesville, Jeffrey Wallace Jr. of Argyle, Craig Dull of Milwaukee, Keith Dull, serving in Iraq, Holly Kirkpatrick of Janesville, Jennifer Schroeder of Marinette, and Jana (James) Knapp and Jacob Habeck (Julia Smith), both of Menominee, MI; great-grandchildren, Adelaide and Kincaide Green, both of Valrico, FL, Amanda Unterfer (Habeck) and Ian Habeck, both of Brandon, FL, Dyllan Witt (Boardman) and Karter Boardman, both of Janesville, KayLee Habeck (Schroeder), Reilly Winters (Schroeder), Karra Winters (Schroeder) and Alana Schroeder, all of Marinette and Karissa Knapp of Menominee, MI.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Wallace L. Habeck; two children, Gary Lee Habeck and Jeffrey Wallace, Sr.; a grandson, Daniel Wallace Ha beck; as well as her siblings: Everett, Marian and Wendell.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 N. Wright Rd., Janesville, with Rev. Guy Vogel officiating.  Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

 

Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday with a Women of the Moose service at 6:30 p.m. at the Henke-Clarson Funeral Home (608-741-1713).
