Hilts, Jill Marie (30 November 1941 – 13 November 2009)

 

Jill M. Hilts, 67, of Black River Falls died Friday morning, Nov. 13, 2009 in her home surrounded by her family and under the care of Black River Memorial Hospice.

 

Jill Marie Murphy was born Nov. 30, 1941, in Black River Falls to Louis “Pat” and Janie (Dorwin) Murphy. She was raised in the Pine Hill area of Jackson County and graduated from the Black River Falls Senior High School.

 

She married Jeffrey Hilts Aug. 4, 1962, in Milwaukee.  Jill and Jeff lived in Milwaukee for 10 yeas before settling in Black River Falls.

 

Jill and Jeff owned and managed Murphy’s Rooms and Apartments of Black River Falls for many years.  In more recent years, Jill was employed as a caregiver by Lutheran Social Services.

 

Jill and her husband, Jeff, traveled the country on their Harley with many of their friends.  She was a member of the Black River Motorcycle Club for many years.  She was an avid card player who enjoyed playing with family and friends.  She greatly appreciated all wildlife and loved her pets dearly. She also enjoyed spending time on the water fishing with her family.  Her true passion and talent was cooking, which she loved to share with family and friends.

 

Survivors include her husband, Jeff, of Black River Falls; a daughter, DeeDee (Todd) Torkelson of Black River Falls; a son, Mark (Liz) Hilts of Black River Falls; four grandchildren, Danielle (Cole Planert) Torkelson of Eau Claire, and Shea Torkelson, Jordy Hilts and Courtney Hilts, all of Black River Falls; a sister, Carol Murphy of Ellsworth; a brother, Jim (Rose Hermanson) Murphy of Black River Falls; and numerous other relatives and friends.

 

Memorial services for Jill M. Hilts were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009 at the Buswell Funeral Home, Black River Falls.  Burial followed in the Shamrock Union Cemetery, rural Black River Falls. Rev. Fr. John Steiner officiated.

 

Family members and friends were invited for visitation Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Buswell Funeral Home.
