Flick, Gordon William (23 August 1968 – 18 April 2010)

 

Gordon “Gordo” W. Flick, 41, of Black River Falls died Sunday, April 19, 2010, in his home under the care of Black River Memorial Hospice, ultimately crushing cancer with a cure that was not of this earth.

 

Gordon William Flick was born Aug. 23, 1968, in Black River Falls to William Jessie Flick and Sandra Rogene (Barritt) Flick.  He was raised in the Alma Center area and graduated from Alma Center Lincoln High School.

 

He married Eunice Jeanette Kins Aug. 9, 2003, in Black River Falls.  The couple first lived in Melrose and then in rural Black River Falls.

 

Gordon was employed at Cummins Filtration of Black River Falls, as a painter, a welder, a tube bender and lastly in the packaging department.  While he was in school, he was employed by Domino’s Pizza of Eau Claire.

 

He was a member of the Community Christian Church of Black River Falls.

 

He enjoyed spending time with his wife and daughter, hunting, softball and darts.  He was the 301 Men’s Singles World Dart Champion in 2008.  In 2008, he also was the Honorary Hero for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society Light the Night Walk in Chippewa Falls.

 

Survivors include his wife, Eunice, and his daughter, Haylie Anne Flick of Black River Falls; his parents, William and Sandra Flick of Alma Center; a brother Robin (Toni) Flick of Black River Falls; a sister, Lori (Jeff) Hanson of Alma Center; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gary and Ruth Kins of Black River Falls; sisters-in-law, Emily (William) Harkins of Lodi and Amy (Joel) Nelson of Huron, SD; and numerous other relatives and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gordon and Georgia Barritt, and Loyal and Concil Flick.

 

Family and friends are invited for visitation from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at the Buswell Funeral Home.  Gary Kins will officiate, and graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 22, 2010, in the Curtis Cemetery, Garden Valley Township, in Jackson County.

 

Memorials are preferred to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
