Victoria Pastor Father Irenaeus Dies at Age 59
Had Been Pastor of St. Fidelis Church Since 1947

Rev. Father Irenaeus Reinl, O. F. M. Cap., pastor of St. Fidelis church in Victoria, died at St. Anthony's Hospital Sunday after an illness of only two weeks. Father Irenaeus was 59.

Pastor of St. Joseph's church in Hays one year, in 1941, Father Irenaeus returned to the East in 1942 and came back to Victoria in 1947, having been appointed pastor of St. Fidelis church at that time. He has been at Victoria since then. Born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, May 24, 1895, Father Irenaeus was ordained a priest in 1923 and celebrated his silver jubilee as a priest at Victoria in 1948. He
was a well-known and highly regarded in Ellis County. It was through his efforts the imported scene of the Nativity was placed in the churchyard at Victoria at the Christmas season several years ago.

Surviving Father Irenaeus are a brother, the Rev. Anthony Reinl, pastor of the Catholic church at Dane, Wisconsin, one other brother and two sisters. Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Fidelis church, Victoria with the Rev. Anthony Reinl celebrant of the Solemn Requiem Mass. The body will lie in state at the monastery at Victoria from tonight until the funeral. Friends may call until 10 o'clock tonight and tomorrow night.


Note: Graduated from St. Lawrence College, Mt. Calvary, WI. Ordained as a priest May 28, 1923.
