Lena Jensen (2 Aug 1881 – 4 Jan 1932)

Friends were saddened to learn of the death of Mrs. Oscar Jensen, who passed away at her farm home southwest of the village early Monday morning (4-Jan-1932). Death was due to a lingering illness and complications.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon (6-Jan-1932) from the Evangelical Salem Church with Rev. L. Thiel officiating. Burial took place in the Pine Hill cemetery north of Curtiss, with four of her sons, Sylvester, Lee, Arthur, and Karl, acting as pallbearers.

Lena Strassburger was born August 2, 1881 in the town of Mayville, and passed away at the age of 50 years, 5 months, and 2 days. In December, 1895 (17-Nov-1895, according to "WI Pre-1907 Marriage Index", v 2; p 400), she was united in marriage to Oscar Jensen at Athens.

Eight children blessed this union, seven of whom are living. Over 20 years ago the Jensens purchased their present farm home and have lived there ever since.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Jensen leaves two daughters, Mrs. Amanda Draves and Mrs. Rhoda Harter, both of Janesville, and five sons, Lee, Sylvester, Arthur, Karl, and Warren, all of Dorchester, her mother, Mrs. Sophia Strassburger, a sister, Mrs. Ida Schultz, of Curtiss and 12 grandchildren. She also leaves a host of relatives and friends to mourn her sudden departure.

Ever a loving mother and wife, Mrs. Jensen labored at her husband's side to rear her sons and daughters and help them gain the advantages of life that she had foregone. A cheerful, lovable person was she; one who shall be greatly missed by her large circle of loved ones and friends. We join the host of friends in offering sincerest sympathy to the mourning ones.
