Boxrucker, Marian (29 Oct 1852- 14 Aug 1937)

Dorchester – Funeral services will be held Monday for Mrs. Marian Boxrucker, 84, who died at 7:30 o’clock Thursday night at the William Jantsch home here as the result of old age complications. Rites will be conducted at 9 a.m. at St. Louis’ Catholic church here, and burial will take place in Memorial cemetery. The Rev. Phillip Weller will officiate.

Mrs. Boxrucker, nee Marian Richard, was born on Oct. 29, 1852, at Westphalia, Germany. She was married there to Henry Mertens in the spring of 1879. The same year Mr. and Mrs. Mertens came to the United States, residing for one year at Scranton, Pa., after which they moved to a farm near Medford. Mr. Mertens returned to Scranton where he was employed as a carpenter and was killed in a fall from a building in 1883.

Two years later Mrs. Mertens was married to Leopold Boxrucker at Medford. The couple resided there until 1919 when they moved to a farm here. Mr. Boxrucker died here on Nov. 2, 1931. Mrs. Boxrucker was a member of the Christian Mothers’ society of St. Louis Catholic church.

Surviving Mrs. Boxrucker are the following children: Henry Mertens, Mrs. Josephine Marette, and Anton, Joseph, and John Boxrucker, Dorchester; Mrs. Ole (Martha) Simerson, Dodgeville; Jake Boxrucker, Stetsonville; and Casper Boxrucker, Medford. Forty-nine grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren also survive.
