Chippewa County Notes First Road Death of '63
John Capaul Dies of Injuries Suffered Monday

Chippewa county noted its initial traffic fatality of 1963 this morning when a rural Cornell man died in St. Joseph's Hospital of injuries suffered late Monday afternoon.

The county's first traffic victim is John Capaul, 66 years-old, and driver of a car involved in a collision with another car at an intersection on county Trunk EE about five miles northeast of Cadott.

According to County Traffic Officer Max Brookshaw, both Capaul and his 63 year-old wife, Minnie, were thrown from the car by the impact of the collision. Mrs. Capaul is still in serious condition at St. Joseph's.

Driver of the other car involved in the mishap was 62 year-old Herbert Sparks, Route 1, Cornell. He reportedly escaped with minor injuries.

Capaul's death raised the Wisconsin 1963 highway toll to 48, compared with 51 on this date a year ago.
