Slaughter, Duane Allen (21 September 1950 – 15 October 2008) With Flag

Duane Allen Slaughter, 58, of Muscoda died at UW-Madison Hospital Wednesday, October 15, 2008.

Born September 21, 1950 in Harvard, IL, to Jean Norton, Duane was adopted in 1953 by Robert Slaughter. Duane attended 22 schools all across the country as his family moved frequently. The family settled in Merrillan at which time Duane attended and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1968. Duane resided with the Clayton Hawley Sr. family for a time as well. Duane was drafted into the U. S. Army and served his country in Okinawa.

Duane worked at several foundries in Wisconsin during his lifetime, beginning at the Neillsville Foundry and most recently retired from Richland Center Foundry as quality control manager.

He was an avid baseball player, loved anything outdoors, was a history/trivia buff and had a great sense of humor.

Survivors include two daughters, Tanya (Dan) Overlien, and Jenny (Cory) Fisher, as well as five granddaughters, Paige, Katelyn and Bree Fisher, and Kiley and Kasey Overlien, all of Black River Falls, ex-wife and mother of his children, Kathy Eddy (Paul) Zimmerman of Merrillan and ex-wife, Jean (Ken) Nicks of Boaz. His mother, Jean of Wisconsin Rapids; two sisters, Debbie of Kentucky and Julie of California; and a brother Robert “Bobby” of Washington; Special uncle and friend, Chris (Lois) Slaughter and special cousin and friend, Mike (Sandy) Brey all of Alma Center.

There will be a memorial supper Wednesday, October 22, 2008 beginning at 5 p.m. hosted by classmate and friend, Kitty Shirley Polege at the Hotel Bar and Grill at Humbird.
