Edward Stevens Passes Away

Ed Stevens 68, Spencer, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, at 8:50 A. M. Saturday. He was taken to the hospital Friday night following a stroke.

The body will lie in state at the Swarthout Funeral Home until 1:30 Thursday afternoon (today) when funeral services will be held from the Funeral Home and at 2 o’clock services will be conducted at the Spencer Methodist Church, with the Rev. Raymond Fleming officiating. Burial will be in the Loyal Cemetery.

Edward Stevens was born April 30, 1880, in the Town of Sherman, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lon Stevens. On December 25, 1904 he married Hattie Warner at Loyal, and the family made its home on the present farm in the Town of Sherman for the past 43 years.

Surviving are his wife and son, Vernon, at home, and two brothers and three sisters; Ruel and Chauncy Stevens, Loyal; Mrs. Elmer (Olive) Knickle, Appleton; Mrs. Mable Austin of Rockford, Ill.; and Mrs. Walter (Verna) Gourlie, Spencer.
