Granton (17 October 1968)

Erlin Garbisch of Milwaukee is spending several days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Garbisch.

Herman Schmidtke left Tuesday for his home in San Diego, Cal., after spending two weeks visiting area relatives and attending the funeral of his sister, Mrs. Leo Dankemyer.

Visitors last week at the William Schmidtke home and attending the Dankemyer funeral were Ernest Schmidtke of Menasha and Mr. and Mrs. George Bayer of Chicago, Ill.

Mr. and Mrs. Tab Erickson of Strum called Monday at the William Schmidtke home.

Six members of the Granton Happy Homemakers Club went on their annual tour Thursday. This year they went to Eau Claire. Making the tour were Mrs. Lloyd Spry, Mrs. Arnold Garbisch, Mrs. Leland Garbisch, Mrs. Roland Quicker, Mrs. Walter Trimberger and Mrs. Carl Drescher.

Mr. and Mrs. Luther Handt and family of Riverside, Ill., visited Sunday with his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Fero. Later in the day the two families drove to La Crosse and visited Mrs. Fero’s sister, Mrs. Eva Porath.

The Romadka Homemaker Club held a social meeting Monday afternoon at the home of Mrs. William Eibergen.

Mr. and Mrs. William Lehmann spent from Thursday until Sunday visiting her sister, Mrs. Marie Umland, in Shawano, and their daughter, Mrs. Mel Smith and family in Appleton.

Mr. and Mrs. Louis Helm spent last week visiting a son, Norman, and family in Kalamazoo, Mich., and another son, Ronald, and family in Cedarburg.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hillert returned home last week from Melrose Park, Ill., where they spent a week visiting their son, Richard Hillert, Jr., and family.

Mr. and Mrs. Roland Quicker have returned from a week’s fishing trip to Webster. They were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Harry Schlinsog of Loyal for a few days.

Miss Mabel Williams returned home Tuesday from a tour of several eastern states. Miss Florence Wiley of Galesburg, Ill., who made the trip with Miss Williams, accompanied her to Granton to spend a few days.

Mr. and Mrs. William Miller and daughters of Clintonville called Sunday morning at the home of her mother, Mrs. Verla Hales, who accompanied them to Altoona to visit their son, David, who is attending Wisconsin State University-Eau Claire.

Mrs. Verla Hales visited her son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Dahl, in the Town of York Sunday evening.

Mrs. Frank Sholley and son of Long Beach, Cal., arrived Friday for a several months’ stay with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. LaVerne Vanderwyst. Her husband, who is serving in the navy, is enroute to Vietnam.

A wedding reception was held Saturday evening at the Anderson Hall honoring Mr. and Mrs. Harold Vanderwyst, who were married September 28 in Alpena, Mich. Mr. and Mrs. Vanderwyst left Monday for Alpena and Harold will leave from there Saturday for Libya, North Africa, where will be stationed with the armed forces until March.

Dinner guests Sunday at the Ralph Lautenbach home were Mr. and Mrs. Emanuel P. Romang, Jr., of Athens, and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Marg.
