EAU CLAIRE -- Frank L. Govek, 91, of Eau Claire and formerly of Willard, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at Luther Hospital, Eau Claire.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday Jan. 14 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard. Burial will be in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery. The Greenwood American Legion Post No. 238 will conduct military rites.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday Jan. 13, at Holy Family Catholic Church with a 7 p.m. prayer service, and again from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday.

He was born Feb. 10, 1917, in Willard to Frank and Apolonia (Melavec) Govek. He was married to Margaret Eugenia Johnson Aug. 12, 1942, at All Saints Chapel Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Fla. He served in the Navy for several years after enlisting in 1942 and served in San Diego, Calif., Corta Moderal, Calif., Klamath Falls, Ore., and Bremerton, Wash.

He is survived by four children, John A. (Jane) Govek of Wausau, Mary Ruth (Dave) Weytens of Waukesha, William J Govek of Eau Claire and Carol A. Govek of South Bend, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Anne Mallmann of West Allis; and one sister-in-law, Rose Govek of San Jose, Calif.
