Rakestraw, David L. (19 December 1971 – 25 January 1988)

David L. Rakestraw, 16, Granton, died Monday evening, January 25, in the emergency room of St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield of injuries from a farm accident.

David was born December 19, 1971, in Neillsville to Roxanne (Clintsman) and David Rakestraw. He attended Greenwood Elementary School and was a sophomore at Loyal High. He was a member of the Greenwood High School Wrestling squad last year and was manager of the Loyal High School wrestling squad this year. He was also a newspaper carrier.

Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Mike (Roxanne) Purgett of Greenwood; his father, David Rakestraw, address unknown; a brother and sister, Michael and Melissa at home; one stepbrother and one stepsister, Greg and Michelle Purgett, both at home; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Clintsman, Greenwood, and Mr. and Mrs. Otto Rakestraw of Christie; his great-grandmother, Mrs. Arlene Tyrell of Wheeler, and his step grandmother, Mrs. Eleanora Purgett of Owen.

Services were held Friday, January 28, at Grace United Methodist Church, Greenwood. The Rev. Kevin Field officiated. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Members of the Loyal High School wrestling squad served as pallbearers. Rinka Funeral Home in Greenwood was in charge of arrangements.
