Haight, Daisy (24 Jan. 1915 - 21 May 2004)

ELK RIVER, Minn. -- Daisy (Nelson) Haight, 89, a resident of the Guardian Care Center in Elk River, Minn., died peacefully on Friday, May 21, 2004.

She was born Jan. 24, 1915, in Chippewa Falls, to Elizabeth (Schwantes) and Elmer Nelson. Daisy was the oldest of three much loved daughters. She attended Chestnut and Junior High Schools and graduated with the Chi-Hi Class of 1932. Daisy married Wellington Markle Haight, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by: her sister, Betty (Hugh) McCausland of Chippewa Falls; brother-in-law, Hugh Horswill of Janesville; her children and their families, Diana (Arnie) Squire of Lyon, France, and children, Matthew (Natalie) and Michael (Ann); sons, Wellington (Julie) of Albuquerque, N.M. and their children, Amy, Neil and Garrett; and son, Christopher (Linda) of Ramsey, Minn., and children, Cara (Todd) Greenawald and Seth (Erin) Haight; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Alexander, Liam, Piper and Stella Squire, Kane and Grey Haight, Lillian and Elliott Greenawald, and Samantha Haight; three nephews; four nieces and families; and two former daughter-in-laws, Cindy Haight and Judy Bradford.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; a sister, Doris (Hugh Horswill); granddaughter, Alyssa Haight; ex-husband, Wellington; and a niece's husband.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 27 at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Chippewa Falls, with Daisy's favorite relative, the Rev. Merle Harberts officiating.

The cremated remains will be buried in Forest Hill Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
