Teledyne Owen, formed in early 1977, has for many years been divisional supplier of wood and plastics drafting and engineering materials to Teledyne Post of Des Plaines, Illinois. In addition, the Owen, Wisconsin facilities have produced increasing quantities of wood and plastic items for other applications, ranging from finished walnut cases to dimension cabinet parts.

William A. Adair, Des Plaines, Illinois, has been named president of the new company, and will continue to perate there at the hub of the nation’s industry, communications, and transportation. According to Adair, the planned program of expansion is in effect for both major product groups.

Custom design and manufacture of the full range of drafting and field engineering supplies is believed to be unique to Teledyne Owen in the U.S. Already a supplier to major distributors in the engineering graphics field, Adair is consolidating effectiveness to distributors in this field.

More than half of Owen’s business includes American Walnut plaques, frames, and instrument enclosures, as well as Northern Rock Maple cutting boards and dish washer tops. These products are processed through the plant’s own sawmill, dry kilns, lumber, and finishing operations.

According to Adair, this unusual combination of products results in economies to both, with resulting business growth.
