Schneebeli, Roy (30 Nov 1933 - 25 Jun 1980)

(Note: Birth and death dates take from Willard National Cemetery listing)

WILLARD- A Willard farm implement dealer died from multiple injuries Saturday at his shop in Willard.

Roy Scheenbeli was 49.

According to Clark County Sheriff's Department investigators, Schneebeli had hooked a tractor to a forage chopper and pulled it to the front of his shop. He thought the tractor was in neutral when he started getting off the vehicle to unhitch the chopper.

The tractor, however, was still in gear and jumped ahead. At that instant, the seat gave way and Mr. Schneebeli fell back between the tractor and chopper and the chopper passed over his body. The tractor and chopper crossed a highway and went down a steep embankment before coming to a stop.

Services for Mr. Schneebeli will be Tuesday at the Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood. Mr. Paul Drager of the Neillsville Jehovah Witnesses will officiate. Burial will be in the Willard Cemetery.

Friends may call today at the family home in Willard, and Tuessday at the Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood.

He was born November 30, 1933 in Oak Park, Illinois to Mr. and Mrs. Adolph (Marcella Nieting) Schneebeli and received his education in Illinois schools. He was a body and fender man in Illinois for 15 years before moving to Willard in 1962, where he farmed for seven years. The past eight years he was owner and operator of "The Farm Shop" in Willard.

He married Betty Mueller June 25, 1955 in St. Charles, Illinois. She survives along with two sons, Kevin at home, and Randy of Willard; and a daughter, Mrs. Bear (Ronda) Gregorich of Willard.
