Roesler, Debbie J. (10 Oct. 1954 - 22 Mar. 2003)

Debbie J. Roesler, 48, of 1420 Perry St., Chippewa Falls, died suddenly Saturday, March 22, 2003, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire.

She was born on Oct. 10, 1954, in Hemet, Calif., the daughter of William and Joyce (White) Friermood. She married Steven Roesler on June 7, 1090, at Notre Dame Church in Chippewa Falls. She was an active member of Notre Dame Church, Chippewa Falls.

She graduated from Drummond High School in 1972 where she was a multi sport athlete. Debbie graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Superior in 1976 where she was also a multi-sport athlete and was awarded Most Valuable Player of the Year in 1976. She taught physical education and health at McDonell High and Notre Dame from 1976 to 1987. Since then she switched to teaching the same subjects at Holy Ghost and St. Charles. She coached the McDonell High School Volleyball team for 27 years and her teams played seven times in the WISSA state tournament winning in 1999. She was the school’s assistant track coach after serving 10 years as the head coach. The girls track team won the state track championship in 1984, 1998, 1999, and 2000.

She is survived by her husband, Steve; two daughters, Kari and Kathy both at home; her parents, William and Joyce Friermood of Barnes; four brothers, Gary (Julie), Rick (Michelle), both of Cable, Jack (Heidi) of Hayward, and Bill (Tammy) Friermood of Running Springs, Calif.; two sisters, Shirley (Gaylon) Heise of Lake Tomahawk, and Julie (Stan) Sarkauskas of Corona, Calif.; Steve’s mother, Marian (Kammel) Roesler of LaCrosse; two brothers-in-law, Gary (Kris Engh) Roesler and Mark (friend Kris Hendrick) Roesler both of LaCrosse; three sisters-in-law, Jeanne (Stephen) Rosendale of Holmen, Sandra (Roger) Mathison of Westby, and Diane (Todd) Kraus of LaCrosse; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Robert Roesler, on Aug. 15, 1962, and brother-in-law, Eric Gilbertson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, at Notre Dame Church, Chippewa Falls. Interment will be in Hope Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today, Tuesday, March 25, at Notre Dame Church, Chippewa Falls, and one hour before the services on Wednesday, March 26, at Notre Dame Church. There will be a Christian Vigil Service at 7 p.m. today at the church.

There will also be a CACS all school Mass for the students at 12:45 p.m. today, at McDonell High School.

The family prefers memorials to be given to Chippewa Area Catholic Schools or the Notre Dame Children’s Fund. She will also be remembered next weekend for her help with the McDonell Alumni Volleyball and Basketball Tournaments.

She made everybody smile. There wasn’t a person she met, whose heart she didn’t touch.
