Schwantes, Cylinda L. (Marriage - 28 May 1949)

The marriage of Miss Cylinda L. Schwantes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Schwantes, route 1, and Elmer A. Bruss, son of Mr. and Mrs. August Bruss, route 1, took place Saturday afternoon, May 28th, at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. H. C. Hinz officiating.

Miss Darlene Schwantes, was her sister's maid of honor and Bridesmaids were Florence Bruss, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Marcia Bruss, Spencer, both sisters of the groom.  Diana Miller, cousin of the bride, was junior bridesmaid.

Attending the groom were Arnold Stelzel, as best man and Edward Winkler, Unity and Delmar Toltzman, Spencer as ushers.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father was attired in a white satin gown with a lace-edged train.  A sweetheart neckline and a leg o'mutton sleeves styled the fitted bodice.  Her skirt of unpressed pleats had a peek-a-boo front detailed with seed pearls and bugle beads.  A crown of seed pearls and orange blossoms held her fingertip veil of imported illusion.  Her bridal bouquet was of white gladioli and pink carnations.

The maid of honor wore an orchid taffeta gown featuring a low-necked ruffled-edged collar.  Three vertical rows of wide ruffles flared down the back of the skirt and a sash was worn around the waist.  She wore matching gauntlets and a fan shaped bonnet trimmed with yellow carnations and lilies of the valley.

The bridesmaids gowns were styled identical to that of the maid of honor, but in peach and lime green.  Their fan shaped bonnets matched their respective gowns.  A dress of yellow net over taffeta and a matching bonnet and gloves was worn by the junior bridesmaid.  She carried a small arm bouquet identical to the bride's.

Following a reception and dinner for 125 guests at the home of the bride's parents a wedding dance and coin shower was given at the Country Ballroom, Marshfield.

Mr. and Mrs. Bruss enjoyed a wedding trip to the northern part of the state and are now making their home on the Bruss Farm northeast of here.

Among the out-of-town persons here for the wedding were guest from Milwaukee, West Allis, Nekoosa, Port Edwards, Colby, Unity, Marshfield and Pittsville.
