Adamski, Donald N. (10 Jan. 1949 - 4 Feb. 2008)

Donald N. Adamski, 59, town of Cassel, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, at his home under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. He was born Jan. 10, 1949, in Wausau, son of Mary (Skrzypchak) Adamski, Marathon, and the late Edwin Adamski. On Aug. 11, 1978, he married Debra Mueller at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cassel. She survives.

From April 9, 1968, until Feb. 5, 1970, Donald served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for Heroism connected with military operations while serving as a machine gunner with Co. C, First Battalion, on March 13, 1969. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Edgar Memorial Post No. 10187 and the American Legion Alois Dreikosen Post No. 469, Marathon.

For 15 years, Don was involved in road maintenance for the town of Cassel. He was a ginseng and buffalo farmer and also drove semi for Midwhey Powder. Among his favorite things to do were hunting, fishing, going up north and building on the hunting shack. Being with family and friends was special to Don as well as watching his sons at tractor pulls.

Survivors include his wife, Debra Adamski, Marathon; two sons, Jason (Jamie) Adamski, Edgar, and Tony Adamski, Marathon; two grandchildren, Jenna and Nicholas; his mother and stepfather, Mary and Clarence Adamski, Marathon; two brothers, Dean (Mary Kay) Adamski and Delos (Laura) Adamski, all of Marathon; four nieces and three nephews, other relatives and friends.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cassel. The Rev. Barnabas Kyea will preside. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon, and again from 9 a.m. until the time of services Thursday at the church. There will be a VFW and American Legion memorial service at 7 p.m. today at the Marathon funeral home.
