Hoff, John Albert (5 Mar. 1929 – 29 Nov. 2008)

SPENCER -- John Albert Hoff, 79, of Spencer, died unexpectedly Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at his home in Spencer.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Christ the King Catholic Church in Spencer. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Wednesday at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home in Spencer and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church.

SPENCER -- John Albert Hoff, 79, of Spencer, died unexpectedly Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at his home in Spencer.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Spencer. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008 at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home in Spencer and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Fr. Charles Stoetzel will officiate. Interment will be in the West Spencer Cemetery at a later date.

John was born March 5, 1929, in Marshfield, a son of Albert and Clara (Regele) Hoff. He attended Mannville Country School. On Oct. 6, 1954, John A. Hoff was united in holy marriage to the former Helen Kirsch, in Stratford. Mr. Hoff worked as a dairy farmer.

He was affectionately know as "Spencer's Bullet Man," due to his large collection of ammunition. He was a true sportsman who especially enjoyed hunting, trapping, and the game of baseball.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Helen Hoff, Spencer; children, Marjean (Jeff) Weichelt of Spencer, Judy Hoff of Marshfield, Jeff (Lisa) Hoff of Marshfield, Carl "Pete" (Pam) Hoff of Marshfield, Marie Hoff of Parsippany, N.J.; grandchildren, Isaac (Stephanie) Weichelt, Raven (Derrick) Derfus, Valerie Weichelt, Seth Weichelt, Nicole and Ethan Hoff; step-grandchildren, Chad Braun, Heidi Braun-Mendes and Travis Braun; great-grandchildren, Mckale, Vanesa, Mason, Kjersti, Oak and Achilles.

One daughter, Kathryn, two sisters, Marge and Irene, as well as his parents preceded John in death.
