Klimpke, Elizabeth (3 Dec. 1929 – 8 Jan. 2009)

Elizabeth Klimpke, 79, Athens, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, at Memorial Health ER, Medford.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Saint Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Athens.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens, and again from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.

Survivors include two daughters, Joanne (Robert) Schug, Athens, and Mary Ann Oelke, Weston; three sons, Arthur (Karla) Klimpke, Medford, John (Brenda) Klimpke, Kenia, Alaska, and Mark (Sheila) Klimpke, Clear Lake; 21 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth A. Klimpke, 79, Athens, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, at Memorial Health Center, Medford.

She was born Dec. 3, 1929, in the town of Halsey, daughter of the late Emil and Katherine (Bergman) Eder. On June 15, 1946, she married Ernest Klimpke at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. He preceded her in death Feb. 19, 2006.

Elizabeth loved traveling, knitting, crocheting, quilting and rug weaving. Many of her creations were given to loved ones. She was a member of the American Legion Chapman-Belter Post No. 4 Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Andrew J. Sutter Post No. 8527 Auxiliary, all of Athens.

Survivors include two daughters, Joanne (Robert) Schug, Athens, and Mary Ann Oelke, Weston; three sons, Arthur (Karla) Klimpke, Medford, John (Brenda) Klimpke, Kenai, Alaska, and Mark (Sheila) Klimpke, Clear Lake; 21 grandchildren, including one special granddaughter, Sandy Neubauer, with whom she made her home; 32 great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Pat Klimpke; special friends, Elmer Wallner, Betty Stock and Lavina Klimpke; and nieces and nephews, many cousins, and friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Carl Klimpke; one infant daughter, Darlene; one granddaughter, Cindy Schug; and one brother, Henry Albrecht.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. The Rev. Charles Hiebl will preside. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Athens. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens, and again on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Athens funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
