Stockwell of Spooner, under date of Oct. 2nd, 1917, we learn that he is running a steam engine; that he is well and reports the army food he gets both good and plentiful. He says the leaves on the trees there are just beginning to turn now. That there are wild boars about their camp and that these boars root up the earth and run around the shanty at night. His partner, who runs nights, is away so he says he is temporarily working two shifts. He acknowledges the receipt of home letters and papers, packages, etc., and in all, writes a very comforting letter.
