Michael Schneider (27 Sep 1850 – 25 Jan 1946)

Funeral services for Michael Schneider, 95, for many years a resident of the Dorchester community, who died Jan 25 at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Bremer Sr., were held from St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Monday at 2 p.m. The Rev. F.H. Sprengler, pastor of St. Peter’s, officiated at the rites and burial was made in Dorchester memorial cemetery.

Michael Schneider was born in Chinow, Roddam province, Poland, Sept. 29, 1850. He and Ephrosena Neuman were married Feb. 1, 1873, being one of the longest-married couples in Wisconsin. Three children were born to them, two of whom survive their father.

Mr. and Mrs. Schneider came to the United States in August, 1893, and settled at Gilett, where they lived until 1902, when they moved to this vicinity. They lived on the Fierke farm until 1915, when they moved to their place, south of the village. Five years ago they moved to the Abbotsford community to make their home with their son-in-law and daughter.

Surviving the nonagenarian are his widow, a son, William Schneider, Medford, one daughter, Mrs. John Bremer Sr., Abbotsford; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. One son, Jacob, died in infancy.
