Close Co. Contest With Big Barbecue

Land Clearers Will Help Celebrate Successful Year

Medford – Taylor county tomorrow will hold one of the biggest events in its history when the end of the land clearing contest will be celebrated at Jump river with a buffalo barbecue.

Almost every farmer in the western part of the county is competing for the prizes offered by business men of this section.

The contest started early in the spring and ended Oct. 20 with an inspection and scoring of clearings by the judges, committees of bankers and newspapermen.

The judges were C. P. Norgard, Wisconsin commissioner of agriculture; Prof. William Boss of the University of Minnesota and Prof. Swinhard, head of the land clearing department of the University of Wisconsin.

C. P. Norgard will be the principal speaker.
