St. Stephen’s Catholic Church (First Communion - 1969)

Twenty-one boys and girls of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Chili received their first Holy Communion at the 8 a.m. mass last Sunday. Officiating at the ceremony was the Rev. Eugene Berthiaume.

Members of the class were: Barbara Arbelovsky, Mitzi Cassell, Laura Conner, Linda Elmhorst, Tommy Geldernick, Brian Hildebrandt, Brian Humphrey, Jeff Lavey, Diane Martin, Shirley Mayer, Cathy Piotrowski, Elizabeth Rand, Shelly Schecklman, Janeen Schmitz, Julie Ann Schmitz, Duane Schutz, Sheila Steiner, Sandra Wesenberg, Patricia White, Donna Zaleski and Jack Benson.

Five of the group who had perfect attendance at the Saturday morning catechism classes, were presented awards. They were: Jeff Lavey, Duane Schutz, Barbara Arbelovsky, Janeen Schmitz, and Donna Zaleski.

Immediately following the mass, members of the class were enrolled in the Scapular of Mount Carmel.

Their instructor was Mrs. Francis Steiner of Granton.
