Schmidt, Carolyn Ann (Marriage - 10 May 1969)

Carolyn Ann Schmidt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schmidt, and James Neil Foote, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Foote, were united in marriage, Saturday at 1 p.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. George M. Nelson, officiating at the nuptial high mass.

Mr. Schmidt escorted his daughter to an altar banked with yellow ‘mums, before an assembled group of 220 who witnessed the double ring ceremony.

The bride was attired in a floor-length gown of Chantilly lace over satin, fashioned with a jewel trimmed bateau neckline and wrist-length sleeves. The skirt also had a scalloped, jewel-trimmed edge completed y a long mantilla train of tulle, edged with lace that matched the gown. She carried a crescent of yellow roses, white carnations and baby breath on a fern background.

Mrs. Arlene Layton of Wisconsin Rapids, sister of the bride, was matron-of-honor. Lorie Schmidt, Mrs. Yvonne LeZotte, both sisters of the bride, and Mrs. James Herron, were bridesmaids. Their gowns were apple green chiffon- over-taffeta Empire sheaths. Chiffon capes were attached to cowl collars, and over this, flowed matched head veils that were fastened to a fabric rose. Each carried a crescent bouquet of yellow and white carnations and baby breath on a fern base.

Larry Herron was best man; and Gil Layton of Wisconsin Rapids, Ralph Schmidt and Alvin Lezotte were groomsmen. Gordy Smith of Wisconsin Rapids and Wendell Ziegler were ushers.

Sister Elise presided at the organ and St. Mary’s school choir sang.

A reception for 220 guests was held later at a local supper club. A large wedding cake and bride and bridesmaid doll cakes were baked and decorated by Mrs. Alvin Lezotte.

Upon their return from a wedding trip, the bride and groom will reside after May 18 at 1810½ S. Bouton St. Appleton.

Mrs. Foote graduated from Neillsville High School in 1968, and has been employed by the Wisconsin Telephone Company in Appleton. Mr. Foote graduated in 1967 from Neillsville High School and is employed by the Copps Company of Stevens Point at Menasha.
