John Weis Passes Away

John Weis, 85, a resident of this community for over 60 years, died at St.Joseph’s hospital, Marshfield, Wednesday afternoon, November 23 at 5:30 p. m. of old age complications.

Funeral services were held Friday morning at 9 a. m. at St. John’s Catholic church, Marshfield with the Rev. Edmund Cramer, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiating. Burial was made in Hillside cemetery, Marshfield.

Pallbearers were William, Reinhold, Jake and Al Weis, Allie Burgraf and Edward Pfanning.

Mr. Weis was born October 17, 1864 in Limburg, Germany. He received his education in Germany and came to Spencer directly from there when he was 21 years old. In 1893 he was married to Margaret Burgraf in St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield but lived in this community until three years ago when he resided at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Theresa Welsh, Marshfield.

Surviving children are William,Andrew, and Mrs. John (Katharine) Dietl, Spencer; Mrs. Henry (Margaret) Schmid, Capron, Ill.; Anton, route 4, Marshfield; Mrs. Frank (Marie) Hardinger and Mrs. Theresa Welsh, Marshfield. He is also survived by 34 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two brothers, Anton and Peter, and one sister, Mrs. Louis Pfanning, Marshfield.

Besides his wife, who died 43 years ago, one child, two sisters, and one brother preceded him in death.

Weis and family, Mrs Jake Weis and Mr. and Mrs. Al Burgraf. Other out of town people attending were Mr. and Mrs. Peter Weis and daughter, Anton Weis, Mr. and Mrs. Max Reggenbauer of Rozellville; Mr. and Mrs. Reinhold Weis, Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. William Mackoway, Chili; William J. Rogan and Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Scott, Wausau; Sister Mary Carmina, Oshkosh and Sister Mary Mainame, Milwaukee
