Dallmann, Verna V. (Johnson) (22 OCT 1927 - 22 MAY 2013)

Verna V. Dallmann, 85, Unity, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at the House of the Dove, Marshfield.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Unity. Reverend Al Houts will officiate. A visitation will be held Friday, May 24, 2013, from 4 to 8 PM at the Maurina Schilling Funeral Home in Colby and on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of services at the church in Unity. Burial will follow the service at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Unity.

Verna was born October 22, 1927, to John and Signe (Johnson) Johnson in rural Unity. She attended Unity Grade School and was a 1945 graduate of Unity High School. Verna worked as a secretary for the Spencer Co-op until her marriage to Corwin Dallmann which took place at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Unity on April 17, 1947. After her marriage she became a stay at home mom.

Verna was a devoted member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Unity where she was in the church choir, Trinity Lutheran LCW, and was in charge of making the dressing for the annual turkey dinner.

She enjoyed going to the cabin at Swamp Sauger, gambling at the casino, watching the Brewers, Packers and the Badgers. Verna also enjoyed gardening and cooking and family was very important to her especially watching the grandchildren’s sports functions.

Verna is survived by her children, Jim (Karon) Dallmann of Rib Lake, and Kathy (Kurt ) Mertens of Colby; grandchildren, Jon (Trisha) Dallmann, Chris Dallmann, Eric (Brittani) Mertens and Kayleigh Mertens; great-grandchildren, Kianna, Madelyn, Ava, Gatlin and Landyn. Verna is also survived by a sister, Eileen Dallmann of Holcombe and a friend, Larry.

Verna is preceded in death by her husband, Corwin; brother, Walter Johnson; and her sisters, Helen Ayer and Vivian Bloom.

The Maurina Schilling Funeral Home is assisting the Dallmann family with funeral arrangements.

In lieu of flowers a memorial can be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church.
