Kindt, August (15 MAY 1872 - 6 FEB 1941)

August Kindt was born in Germany, May 15, 1872. Here he was baptized, trained and instructed in the fundamental teachings of Holy Scripture, and at the age of discretion pledged allegiance to Him who bled and died on the cross for the sins of the world.

At the age of fourteen he came with his parents and resided near Wilton. Later he took up residence in the Town of Wellington, Monroe County, Wis. Here he united in marriage with Albertina Schendel on March 9, 1898. They continued in mutual pilgrimage here until 1922, when they chose to locate in the Town of Eaton, Clark Co. (Wis.).

Ten children, six daughters and four sons, make up the family circle. Of them, one daughter, Meta, yielded to the summons from on high 1? Months ago to retire from earth weal and woe and join the ranks of the blissful in heaven.

With but a few scattered interruptions, the deceased was engaged in farming all his life. Our departed brother's love for the means of grace, Word and Sacrament was manifested in his devout and diligent attention at Divine worship and active interest in the promotion of god's kingdom of grace. He also served Immanuel Lutheran Church in the council of elders, holding the office of president for many years.

On Jan. 31, 1941, he went to Marshfield for a cancer operation. He expressed hope of returning home to his Pastor and Mrs. G.E. Grap when they visited him the 3rd of February. He passed away at 5:00 o'clock Thursday morning from coronary thrombosis.

Those mourning the departure of our sainted brother are: this devoted wife, Albertina, five daughters and four sons as follows: Wanda (Mrs. Vern Von Haden), Wilton, Wis.; Hulda (Mrs. Wm. Hubert), Tomah, Wis.; Walter, Neillsville, R. 2; Hertha (Mrs. Frank Marg), Greenwood; Olga (Mrs. Archie Thompson), Neillsville; Albert, Sherwood; Lillian, Milwaukee, and Edwin and Allen at home; two brothers, Wm. Kindt, Tomah, Wis.; Gustave Kindt, Wilton, Wis.; one sister, Mrs. Elmer Hoffman, Ontario, Wis.; 20 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. 68 years, 8 months and 21 days mark our brother's pilgrimage.

Let us all ever cherish his memory in honor:

"Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord."

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon Feb. 9, 1941 at 2 o'clock at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Globe, Rev. Adolph Schuman officiating. Burial was made in the church cemetery.

The flower girls were Mrs. Alvin Ehlers, Mrs. Floyd Pots and Mrs. Vivian Carteron. The pallbearers were Robert Schlinkert, Ted Kalsow, Richard Hagedorn, Wm. Kalsow, August Beyer.
