Zoromski, Longine “Gene” (15 March 1930 - 4 June 2013) With Flag

Longine “Gene” Zoromski was born on March 15, 1930, to John and Frances Zoromski in Marathon County, WI and passed away on June 4, 2013, at his residence. He grew up on a farm near Galloway, WI where he attended a country one-room school and graduated from Wittenberg High School.

Gene married Irene Moczarny in 1954 after his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, where he served in the Koran War from September 1951 to September 1953. With Irene he raised five children and ran a successful insurance business in Thorp, WI for nearly 35 years. Gene was member of the Thorp Fire Department, serving as an EMT, fireman and Fire Chief. He was also active in civic and service organizations. After retiring, the couple moved to their home on Lake Holcombe where they enjoyed the lake scene together until Irene’s death.

Gene married Lillian Machlett in November 2001 and together they have enjoyed pontooning on the lake, fishing and spending time traveling. Gene enjoyed going to the Zoromski Hunting Lodge in the Township of Franzen. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and family man.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian; and his children: Scott (Sue), Paula Schwab, Mark (Jill), Jill (don) Perkins and Eric (Teresa). Six grandchildren: Sam Schwab, Andrew and Joe Zoromski, Hope Perkins, Lukasz and Monika Zoromski. He is further survived by Lillian’s four children and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gene’s six brothers and one sister also survive him, along with many nieces and nephews.

Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Irene; siblings: John and Jim; granddaughter, Kate Zoromski; son-in-law, Patrick Schwab; and grandson, Alex Schwab.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) on Friday, June 14, 2013, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 10193 Lehman Rd., Holcombe, WI, with Fr. Gene Murphy officiating. Family and friends may gather two hours before the service at the church.

The family would like to thank the Mayo Clinic Health System Hospice for the professional and loving care they provided for Gene and family.

Memorials requested in Gene’s memory to the Lake Holcombe EMS or the Thorp EMA.

The Borton-Leiser Funeral Home in Cornell, WI is accommodating the family.
