Witt, August (21 Dec 1875-05 July 1064)

Funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church of Loyal on Wednesday at 2 p.m., for August Carl Witt, 88, who died at 11:15 Sunday evening, July 5 at his home, of old age complications. Rev. Herman Laschensky of Wausa, former pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church, officiated at the service. Myre Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery.

Mr. Witt was born December 21, 1875 in Mayville. He came to Clark County at the age of seven with his parents, who settled on a farm near Spokeville. He was united in marriage to Martha Degen on February 14, 1903 at Loyal. After their marriage, the couple lived on the home farm until 1926 when they moved to Loyal. Here he operated a feed mill with his son, Albert, for many years. Later they operated a meat market for a number of years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Loyal, and had helped to build the present church.

He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Arnold (Alma) Paepke, Milwaukee; Mrs. Bernard (Ella) Zuege, Milwaukee; Mrs. Edward (Agnes) Traeder, Rhinelander; one son, Albert, at home. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Frank (Anna) Degen, West Allis.

One son, James, preceded him in death at tha age of 10; and one brother also preceded him in death.
