Reinwand, Edward (18 JAN 1943 - 13 JUL 2013)

Edward Reinwand, age 91 was called home on Saturday, July 13, 2013 while residing the Stevens Point Care Center. Ed was born October 22, 1921 in Chili, WI. He was the son of the late Charles and Elsie (Kepert) Reinwand.

Ed entered the United States Army on January 18, 1943 in Milwaukee, WI. And was a veteran of World War II. He served in France, Germany and England. He was at the campaign battles of Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He received the World War II Victory medal, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with four Bronze Battle Stars, Four overseas Services Bars and the Good Conduct Medal. Before he was honorably discharged on December 18, 1945 at Fort Sheridan, IL. he helped liberate prisoners in concentration camps.

He married Evelyn Immerfall on June 17, 1947 at Corpus Christi in Bakersville, WI. Evelyn preceded him in death in 2000.

Ed was employed by Consolidated Papers for thirty eight years as a painter and retired in 1983. He served first as Vice-president and then President of the Pulp and Sulphide Workers Local Union 94 in the early 70's. He also worked at Golden Sands Race Track from the time it opened until 2002. Ed also sold Avon products for over thirty years and tended bar at Club Forest.

Ed volunteered for Special Olympics for over twenty years and was role model and Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America. He made thousands of rosaries that he donated to mission churches, schools and funeral homes. He enjoyed working in his garden, traveling, Christmas caroling and meeting people.

Ed felt you could learn so much from meeting others. For many years he was Santa Claus for the UW-SP Children's Program, area nursing homes and even for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing cards, and cherished his dog Heather. Many will miss the great character of a man who touched so many lives. There is no doubt he has passed on his love of life, his love of country and his faith in God.

His legacy lives on in the following survivors. His four daughters; Sister Rosella of Plover, Julie Krueger of Plover, Maxine (Pete) Rottscheit of Marshfield and "Sam" Darlene Reinwand Lamay of Wisconsin Rapids. His five sons; Willis Reinwand of Wisconsin Dells, Mark Reinwand of Plover, Jerome Reinwand of Wisconsin Rapids, Donald (Sheri) Reinwand of Plover and Joseph Reinwand of Wisconsin Rapids.

Further survived by his nineteen grandchildren; Edward Reinwand III, Becky Holtz, Bonnie Hephner, Lora Catlin, Dawn Roberts, Shane and Jerome Reinwand Jr., Julie Van Wyhe, Justin Reinwand, Rosemary Rottscheit, Rosella Reinwand-Crooks, Maggie Dykstra, Nicole Sprague, Heather Broschardt, JoLynn Reinwand, Ethan Bauer, Christopher, Mackenzie and Levi Reinwand. Thirty five great grandchildren and one great great grandson. Four brothers; Norman (Dorothy) Reinwand, Wisconsin Rapids, Ralph Reinwand of Marshfield, Gib Reinwand of Pittsville, Charles (Marion) Reinwand of Chili and one sister-in-law Donna Immerfall of Marshfield.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Evelyn, his son Rev. Edward Reinwand II in 1995, and his daughter Dr. Rosemary Reinwand in 2004. His daughters- in- law Pam Reinwand in 1984, Freida Reinwand in 2012 and two sisters, Florence and Frances, and one grandson. Pallbearers for the funeral services will be Jerome Reinwand, Donald Reinwand, Pete Rottscheit, Julie Krueger, Christopher Reinwand, Edward Reinwand III and JoLynn Reinwand.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday July17, 2013 at. St. Bronislava Catholic Church. Monsignor Jeffrey Burrill officiating. Burial will full military rites will follow in the St. Bronislava Parish Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at the Pisarski Community Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 2911 Plover Rd, Plover, and from 9:30 A.M. Wednesday morning at St. Bronislava Church until the time for mass.
