Washburn (17 June 1971)

Dale Reinart, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Reinart, and Jeffrey Meier, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Meier, returned last Thursday from a two week vacation trip of 4,600 miles. They visited the Corn Palace, Black Hills, Custer Park, Yellowstone Park, Salt Flats of Utah, Grand Canyon, Colo., and many other interesting sights.

They visited Jeffrey’s cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Peepgrass III and family in Denver, Colo., and Dale’s cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Allan Neff and family in Phoenix, Ariz. Mrs. Neff is the former Betty Schultz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Schultz of Waterford. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Meier in Crystal Lake, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. David Winters in Ft. Atkinson; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Beyers and Mr. and Mrs. John Trogner and family in Stoughton; and the William Reinart family, the George Reinart family and the Joe Reinart family in Tomah.

Several of the farmers have started haying, putting it in their silos.

Mrs. Ernest Kuhn, Mrs. John Reinart, Mrs. Arnold Huth, Sr., Mrs. Arnold Huth, Jr., Mrs. Albert Lincoln, Mrs. George Gorbet, Mrs. William Matuszak, Mrs. Adolph Mazourek, Mrs. Oliver Williams, Mrs. Darrel Hohenstein, Mrs. Robert Spiegel and Mrs. Kenneth Goetz of the Washburn Homemakers club, accompanied the York Sew and So Club on a bus trip last week Wednesday to the House on the Rocks near Dodgeville, a lace factory and museum at New Glarus and Treasure Island at Madison.

Mr. and Mrs. John Huth who are spending a 30-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Huth, Sr., came from Stratford, Calif., instead of Illinois as reported. John had been stationed there for some time.

Mr. and Mrs. Roger Short and family of Milwaukee spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Frank Short, and brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Short.

Mr. and Mrs. Leland Dopp of Marshfield and Mrs. Floyd Wall were dinner guests Sunday of Mrs. Irving Stevens. They all called at the Ralph Short home Sunday afternoon.

Mr. and Mrs. Kenny Short moved to Neillsville from Stoughton last weekend. He was transferred from Nelson Muffler at Stoughton to the plant here.

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Urban and Brenda and Mrs. Roy Carlson were dinner guests Tuesday of Mrs. Irving Stevens.

Mr. and Mrs. Bob Galbreath and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kissling were dinner and supper guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kissling. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer visited there Sunday afternoon.

Mr. and Mrs. Merle Austin spent Thursday evening at the Mrs. Art Odell home assisting with some work.

Mr. and Mrs. Roger Short and Mrs. Frank Short called on Mrs. Irving Stevens Saturday afternoon.

Matt and Bruce Kingsbury visited Wayne and Lee Reinart Sunday afternoon.

Victor Lutz of Milwaukee spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andreas Lutz.

Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Feutz of Wisconsin Rapids visited his mother, Mrs. Chris Feutz, Sunday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Art Short visited at the Ralph Short home Sunday evening.

Norma Lincoln is assisting with teaching daily vacation Bible school near Black River Falls this week.

Mrs. Wanda Pretsch visited Mrs. Irving Stevens Thursday morning.

Mr and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer visited Sunday evening at the Stanley Kosmoski home.

Mrs. Fred Hammond and Mrs. Hemming of Marshfield called at the Warren and Albert Lincoln homes Sunday.

Mrs. Don Stewart, Jeff and Jana, and Mrs. Frank Stewart, of Verona, arrived Monday to spend a few days with the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Short.

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lincoln entertained the Bible study group Saturday night. It will be held at the Lyle Cary home in Sherwood this Saturday night.

Wendell Williams arrived home Sunday from two weeks’ National Guard duty at Camp McCoy.

Mrs. George Sherwood underwent surgery at St. Joseph’s Hospital Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Williams took her there Sunday afternoon.
