The Greenwood Alumni met for the 12th year Memorial evening, May 30th for a buffet lunch. The menu was cheese and ham sandwiches, pickles, ice cream, cake and coffee.

President Norman Liebzeit called the group together and seated them according to classes starting with Mrs. Nutt of 1902, Mrs. Einfeldt gave a touching prayer for the group and Allan Wuethrich led group singing, accompanied by Lillian Warner. Mr. Fonstad welcomed all the Alumni and introduced Carol Speich and Mitchell Smith, who rendered a coronet duet, and Judith Behrens, a soprano role a piano selection by Charles Ivey and a trombone solo by Paul Plautz.

Harvey Humke acted as Master of Ceremonies, his talk was very witty and well given. One knew that Harvey had put some time and thought on it. He called on several members for a few words, most interesting were those of Fay Opdycke Schumacher, who has just returned from Berlin, Germany and assured us there is no country like our country. She of course had come the longest distance to attend the meeting.

President Norman Liebzeit appointed Donald Syth, Donald Speich, and Lois Merkel Hare to the nominating committee. They in turn nominated the following:

President: Gilbert Rohde
Vice President - Reynold Syth
Secretary - Mrs. Andrew Lindner
Treasurer -Audrey Haeuser Kehrberg
Historian - Helen Behrens

Mrs. Nutt has long wanted to establish a scholarship sponsored by the Alumni, and has always been disappointed. So this year she asked Mr. Fonstad to explain how "Trees for Tomorrow" worked and what good it did. She then asked for a plate to be passed to see how much we could collect to send students for this good cause. There was a total of $26.71. We could send three more Greenwood students next year. Mrs. Nutt commended Mabel Bishop for starting our organization and asked that the secretary please write and tell Mable all about our meeting this year. This will be done. Mrs. Nutt laughingly said she knew of no one else who would have had the spunk to start such a group Mr. Fonstad had said previously that he knew of no other school that had successful Alumni meetings.

Beatrice Ketchpaw Clayton gave a history of the high school from the beginning. In 1898 the four year course began. She closed her talk with poetry about peace.

President Norman Liebzeit close the 12th successful meeting of the G.H.S. Alumni.

The meal was prepared by Rose and Ruth Meredith and served by Ruth Steele, Marlene Metzke, Joyce Meyer, Joan Colby, Carol Stout and Janet Stiefvater.

I hope next year we can pass a plate and buy some much needed silver or cups for our Home Ec room. We have only 83 forks and as many spoons, which explains why we laid only a fork or a spoon at each place.
