Rose June Briski was born on June 18, 1924, in a log house, in the Town of Mead, rural Greenwood, to Matt and Katherina (Zager) Briski. She was raised on the family farm and received her education at Maple Ridge School. She went to Chicago during World War II and worked various factory jobs. She later returned to Greenwood and married Stanley J. Malaszuk on September 4, 1943, at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Thorp. They farmed in the Town of Reseburg until 1957 and then moved to operate the R & S Country Club in rural Thorp until 1972. They then moved to Greenwood where Rose resided until entering the Clark County Health Care Center.

Rose was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood and the St. Ann’s Society. In her spare time, she enjoyed polka dancing, playing cards, crocheting, embroidering, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by three children: John (April) Malaszuk of Harrisonburg, VA, Delores (Robert) Gardner of Greenwood, and Kathleen (Chap) Barth of Thorp; 10 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by two sisters: Dolores Lendosky of Greenwood and Katherine Gulczinski of New Brighton, MN; two brothers: Robert (Tami) Briski and John (Florence) Briski, both of Greenwood; two sisters-in-law: Vivian Briski of Greenwood and Della Briski of Altoona; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stanley, in 1993; her son, Eugene Malaszuk, in infancy; five brothers: matt, Tony, Frank, Ted and Albert; and four sisters: Mary Malnar, Elizabeth Stimac, Julia Vivoda and Angeline Gulczinski.

Rose’s family would like to thank the Clark County Health Care Center for all their wonderful care.
