Karsten, Bertha (3 MAR 1882 - 13 JUN 1952)

Mrs. Bertha Karsten, 70, Abbotsford, passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, on Friday, June 13, 1952 of a heart ailment.

Bertha Horn, daughter of the late Frank and Louisa (Braun) Horn, was born March 3, 1882 at Greenwood.

She was married to Christ Karsten of Curtiss at Greenwood on June 10, 1902. They immediately went to a farm near Curtiss, where they lived until 1940, when they moved to Abbotsford. Mrs. Karsten passed away on June 2, 1941.

Funeral services were held at Christ Lutheran Church, Abbotsford on Monday, June 18th, the Rev. F.H. Sprengler officiated. She was laid to rest in the Green Grove Cemetery.

She is survived by two sons, Alfred of Abbotsford and Harry of Curtiss; one daughter, Mrs. Franklin (Elsie) Kraut of Curtiss, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one sister, Miss Martha Horn, Greenwood, and two brothers, William of Greenwood and Frank of Tacoma, Wash.

The pallbearers were three nephews Harold Harold and Glen Horn and Adolph Wessel, and three grandsons, Ernie Boss, La Vern Karsten and Charles Stout.

Those from Greenwood who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Ida Horn and Glenn, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Wessel and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Horn, Miss Martha Horn, Wm. Horn, Mrs. John Speich, Mres. Elmer Learman, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Braun, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Braun, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Horn, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Horn, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Horn, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Horn, Mr. and Mrs. Theo Braun, Art Horn, Mrs. Geo. Poppe, Mr. and mrs. Gilbert Meyer, Mrs. Clara Liebzeit, Mrs. Emil Noah, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Liebzeit, Mr. and Mrs. H.R. Baird and son.
