Ehlers, William Francis (30 January 1909 - 29 September 1971)

Funeral services for William Francis Ehlers, 62, of Neillsville, who died at his home September 29, were held Saturday, October 2, at 1:30 p.m. from the Georgas Funeral Home. The Rev. Melvin Nickel of the United Methodist Church officiated and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

William Ehlers, the son of John and Mary (Pruka) Ehlers, was born January 30, 1909, in Neillsville and was educated in area schools. He worked on the home farm for a time, then for the Clark County Highway Department, and was later employed in Marshfield. Upon his retirement he lived with his mother until the time of her death, and had lived in Neillsville ever since. Mr. Ehlers was married to the former Lois Scholtz.

Survivors include three children, Mrs. Ed (Janice) Black of Lenexa, Kans., Mrs. James (Judy) Hodges of Ishpeming, Mich., and Robert Ehlers, with the armed forces in England. He is also survived by five sisters, Mrs. William Hogue of Merrillan, Mrs. Lillian Meyer of Neillsville, Mrs. Evelyn Junchen of Sioux Falls, S. D., and Mrs. Lester (Dorothy) Krier and Mrs. Robert (Jeanette) Braatz, both of Beaver Dam and four brothers, Arthur Ehlers of Neillsville, Glen Ehlers of Milwaukee, Eugene Ehlers of Columbus, and Irving Ehlers of Buckeye, Ariz.

Pallbearers were La Vere D. Ehlers, Dale Meyer, Ronnie Meyer, Laverne P. Ehlers, James Ehlers and John Ehlers. “Beyond the Sunset” and Going Home” were sung by Wilfred Galstad. He was accompanied by Miss Marilyn Galstad.

Those from out of town who attended the services included Mr. and Mrs. Lester Krier and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Braatz of Beaver Dam; Mrs. Evelyn Junchen of Sioux Falls, S. D.; Eugene Ehlers and John, Roger, Doris and Ruth Ehlers of Columbus; Mr. and Mrs. Glen Ehlers and Sharon, Susan, and Sandy Ehlers, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. William Hogue, Merrillan; Mrs. Lois Ehlers, and Mr. and Mrs. James Hodges, Ishpeming, Mich.; Mrs. Janice Black, Lenexa, Kans.; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Butero, Jr., Milwaukee; and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Estick and Kevin of Woodstock, Ill.
