Drummond, John Tabor #2 (26 JUN 1865 - 05 DEC 1942)

John Tabor Drummond oldest son of the late James and Priscilla McKin Drummond of Scotch-Irish parentage was born in Necedah, Wisconsin, on June 26, 1865 and passed away suddenly Saturday night, December 5, 1942 at 7:30 o’clock at his home the result of a heart attack. On October 7, 1942 he suffered a heart attack which confined him to his home for five weeks but he had been up since and was up town Saturday afternoon.

Part of his boyhood was spent in Philadelphia, Quincy Adams County, and South Dakota, returning to Necedah before his marriage.

On January 8, 1890 he was united in marriage at Necedah to Ida Louis Williams, who preceded him in death on March 4, 1942. Two years ago Mr. and Mrs. Drummond celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

After their marriage, the Drummonds lived at Necedah, where he was employed in the store of the Lyman Lumber Company and later owned a store. Forty-two years ago they came to the City of Greenwood, where he was affiliated with the Big Store for 27 years, then owned the present Clayton store for 3 years and retired 12 years ago.

He was a former member of the Greenwood School Board and City Council, a member of the Grace Methodist Church, the Modern Woodmen of America, the Order of Eastern Star and Masonic Lodges.

Surviving are a daughter Mrs. John (Vera) Wuethrich of this city and a son Emil of Cook, Minn., a sister Mrs. Walter Eaton, Necedah, 4 grandchildren, Robert and Patricia Drummond of Minneapolis, Minn., John D. and Allen Wuethrich of Greenwood; three great grandchildren, Diane Drummond of Minneapolis and Devere and Diane Wuethrich of Greenwood, and a large number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, a sister Martha Jean who died at the age of 12 and a brother Perry James, who passed away in Milwaukee 5 years ago.

A Masonic funeral service will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock from the home and at 2:00 o’clock from the Grace Methodist Church with Rev. Alex J. Abbott, pastor of the church and Rev. C.R. Gaylord of Stanley officiating. Interment will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

The pallbearers will be M.E. Kenyon, O.J. Amundson, Elmer Johnson, C.C. Hoehne, I.W. Stafford and Perry Volk.
