Blasel, Melvin G. (4 JUL 1924 - 27 JAN 2014)

Melvin G. Blasel, 89, died Monday, January 27 at the Memorial Nursing and Rehab Center, Medford where he had resided for the past 4 years.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 1, at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Stetsonville.

Rev. James Babler will officiate. Cremainal Inurnment will take place at a later date in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery, Dorchester.

Visitation will take place at 12:00 Noon until the time of services at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 1 at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Stetsonville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be to Melvin’s family to be designated at a later date

MARRIAGE:
July 31, 1946 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Stetsonville to Sylvia A. Baumer and she preceded him in death on February 19, 2012

PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE:
In 1950, Melvin and Sylvia bought their own farm by Dorchester, where they dairy farmed, raised mink for a few years and enjoyed a large garden. Over the years, Melvin drove semi-trucks, gravel trucks, cattle trucks, tractors (Big & Small) and other large equipment until ill health forced his retirement in 2005. After retirement he helped his sons with their field work. He enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino, ice fishing, reading the paper, watching television and getting together with family. Melvin enjoyed going for Sunday rides and to take trips with Sylvia. His favorite was driving through Yellowstone and the beautiful scenery. He also liked visiting relatives in other states.
